Begonia ulmifolia is a shrub-like species from Brazil, fast growing and bushy. The species name means a leaf like an Ulmus (elm), which is fitting as it does look like a light green elm leaf. The leaf is covered with short white hairs. The flowers are white and it blooms multiple times during the year.

This Begonia prefers partial shade as it is prone to leaf burn due to sun damage. Some browning of the edges of the leaves can also occur when the humidity is to low, this begonia grows best in higher humidity levels of 50-95%. A terrarium can help achieve this or frequent misting to build humidity in low humidity climates.

Like most begonias this stunner prefers a loose, well-draining soil to ensure adequate air-rating of the roots and ensure its not to stay too wet. These begonias prefer to be on the drier side, to ensure over watering does not occur only water when potting medium is almost completely dried out.

Please note that Begonias are notorious for not posting well, so keep in mind that you may receive a plant with floppy/brown edged leaves. They generally bounce back pretty quickly and will push out fresh leaves once potted up.

(You will receive a bare rooted plant similar to the one seen in the images. Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour or shape.)
