Mammillaria bombycina
Mammillaria bombycina also commonly known as the Silken Pincushion Cactus is a stunning variety native to areas in Mexico. It forms small, globular stems covered in dense, white, soft hairs. These hairs give the cactus a soft, fuzzy appearance and help protect it from the harsh desert sun.
Emerging from the woolly areoles are clusters of short, thicker white spines and in the very centre of those there are long reddish-brown spines, creating a stunning contrast in colour and length.
As it matures Mammillaria bombycina will form clusters of stems, creating a clump. In spring and summer, it produces a stunning display of vibrant pink or red flowers that form a ring around the top of the stem.
Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour, or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available.
(You will receive a plant similar to the ones in the photos provided sent bare rooted plant.)
